This is a fashion blog and I rarely share anything too personal on it other than my outfit posts and occasional glimpse to a bit of my life through Instagram recaps. But today’s post is slightly different, perhaps a lot different from my usual ones. It’s extremely personal and I have no idea how you guys are going to react to it.
I am a huge animal lover, in fact I am quite obsessed with animals. I had one of the most beautiful cats in the world and she was one of the best things that happened to me. I never cared too much about animals till I met Poos-Poos and even after I met her I would ignore her a lot initially. One day she decided to take control and teach me a thing or two about loving animals! She jumped onto my lap and settled there for a couple of hours and I could do nothing about it! Sooner than I realized this ball of fur walked into my heart one little paw at a time and filled my life with the purest kind of love that I had never experienced before. I started loving animals because I saw my poos-Poos in all of them. I loved Poos-Poos immensely (still do) and she meant the world to me.
Last Thursday she left this world and crossed the rainbow bridge. She was unwell and the vet said she had a lot of internal injuries which were incurable. She left her last breath in my arms looking ever so beautiful and peaceful. I have no words to explain my state of mind but my only consolation is, she was in great pain and it’s over for her now. She had a wonderful life and our entire family showered her with everything a kitty could ask for.
To keep my darling Poos-Poos alive in my heart and in my blog I wish to share a few of my sweetest memories with her.
I am not quite in a state of mind to resume my normal blogging life but I will soon get back to it. For now with all my faith on the unknown, I am visualizing my Poos-Poos playing around in the lush green meadows of the rainbow bridge and chasing butterflies, her favourite past time.

Although I have been on a holiday, am hardly getting time to really enjoy it. There are days when I do sit back and relax but most of the time is getting spent in working on my latest collaborations. Not that I am complaining! I am glad my blog is getting noticed and I am getting to work with some really interesting people. But managing a blog along with a full time job is very difficult and it’s only in weekends and holidays that I can give undivided and much deserved attention to my blog.
One of my latest collaboration is with Ek Taara, an Indian fashion label that really touched me with it’s simplistic designs, cute prints, natural fabrics and beautiful craftsmanship. I have so far posted two outfits from Ek Taara (read about them here and here) and here goes the third one! This cute top definitely goes with my mood of the day. I wanted to be all casual, laidback and relaxed today after working on some photo shoots with my husband for the first half of Sunday. This loose and comfy top teamed with a par of slouchy pants is all I needed to take my day easy.
So, how was your weekend and how is Monday treating you so far? Do write about your thoughts on my look of the day while I get back into planning my rest of the shoots See you soon with another outfit from Ek Taara very soon
We all go through days when our hair simply refuses to behave! Yes my darlings, I am talking about the bad hair days! How do you handle your bad hair days and sill manage to look stylish? I usually tie my hair up into a ponytail or a messy bun and simply cannot think of anything more than that. Recently I was browsing through some runway images and I came across some really cool hairstyle ideas that can make your bad hair days wonderful. They are quite simple and looks easy to achieve and totally not like the usual complicated runway hair dos. Here is a compilation of some bad hair day life-savers. Read on
A bun is my go-to hairstyle whenever I am going through a bad hair day. Usually I just tie my hair into a ponytail, twist it around and secure it with a pin. But there is so much more that we all can do than just a simple bun. Have a look at these ideas.
I personally love the messy bun look as it’s the easiest to wear. Just toss you hair a bit to create some volume, twist your hair into a quick bun and secure with a pin or a hair band. You can add some volumizing hair spray or gel for extra boost.
The neat look is great for evenings and looks perfect with a dress or a pretty top. Add some gel to tame the fly-away hair and tie your hair into a high or a low bun. Use hair pins to take care of the ends
I love a braided look on occasions where my hair is absolutely unmanageable. It’s a simple, messy braid with a tiny band to hold the ends. I seriously love these new hair braiding ideas. What about you?
This out-of-the-bed hair look is my favourite. It’s simple and casual and great for a day out. Be sure to use some hair products to add texture and volume if you wish.
If you like a more natural yet clean style of braiding, add some smoothening serum to the hair and try out this tidier version of braiding. This can work both with a centre parting or on back combed hair.
For a more feminine yet informal hair do, this messy braided bun is a great alternative. To achieve a do-at-home version of this style, add some texture spray and work out three braids from the crown, twist them around, roll into a bun and secure with hair pins.
This one is my favourite and probably the easiest of the hairstyle that one can try out on the go. Just tie your hair into a high, low or medium sized ponytail and you are ready. But wait a second, how about trying something new with a regular ponytail style like the images given below?
To achieve this sleek ponytail, use some gel all over your hair, back comb and tie it with a hair band at the nape of the neck. Straighten the ends for a cleaner look or leave them natural. You can also try out a really high ponytail using this technique if that suits your style.
For a more natural day look, use some volume spray and blow dry your hair and tie your ponytail low and loose.
Those of you with curly hair or like to have curly hair would love this ponytail style. For natural curls just tie your hair with a band and roll a strand of hair around the band to cover it. For the rest of us, we need a curling iron or at least some bit of crimping to get this look right.
I usually never wear my hair wet unless I am doing a blog photo shoot. But it’s one of the best ways to tackle a not so good hair day, specially when the hair is not washed for a couple of days.
The wet look is quite easy to achieve. All you need are some wet look gel, smoothening serum and that’s about it! You may just create the wet look in the crown and leave the ends looking natural, or gel all of your hair for a more glamorous version. This hairstyle looks great with natural make up as well as red lips and extra large sunglasses. Brilliant isn’t it?
On a regular day I use a head band to add some excitement to a basic look. But there are much more possibilities of playing with hair accessories. Think scarfs, think flower crowns and if out of ideas, scroll down for some inspiration.
You may even accessorize some of the hair style given above with a bandana, cute little hair clips, floral head bands and chains.
So, what do you think of these hair dos? Are you going to try any of these? Are there any other ways you take care of a bad hair day? I am really eager to hear from you, so pour in your comments!

This is the second dress from my collaboration with Ek Taara and let me be honest, I feel that the subtle color, the cute prints and the bright orange trimming of this dress is quite unique and exquisite! If you haven’t yet checked out my previous post on this vibrant Indian Indie label by my designer friend Priyanka Chugh, do so here! Keeping in mind the simplicity of the dress I styled it with with lighter colors and am really happy with the way the earthy colors highlighted the beautiful print on the dress. A striped tee, a pair of well-fitted dark skinny jeans and a black blazer are wardrobe basics and sometimes it feels good to go back to basics and sort of think less about complicated outfit combinations.
I am right now on a holiday visiting my hometown, eating healthy home cooked meals, relaxing with my cat, taking my dogs out for a walk and keeping things really simple. And today’s outfit is a reflection of my current sate of mind. However, not all of my holiday outfits are going to be this basic as I have some really cool collaborations coming up and I can’t wait to share them all with you. But for today, let me just go slow and feel good in my wardrobe ‘must-haves’. Nothing more to talk about today, other then to break this good news that some really exciting projects are coming up really soon. So don’t forget to keep visiting my blog and catching up on all of them!
Do you have a pair of denims that you are bored of wearing over and over again and yet they are in pretty good condition to get completely discarded? I do have a pair and after all these days I finally decided to give them a makeover. In summer when I have to think denim all I can think of are cute denim shorts to beat the heat. So I chose to do a DIY out of my old jeans along with some laces for a comfortable pair of summer denim shorts! It’s super simple, quick and easy to try out. Read on and find out how!
So here are what you’ll need:
A pair of old denims
(See a DIY of these distressed denims here, and also the styling of the same here and here)
Lace in any color or patttern of your choice
Basic stitching equipments
A pair of scissors, of course!
Step 1 : Measure a length that suits you and cut the legs of your jeans as shown below.
Step 2 : You may want to fold the hems and stitch them the way I did or let the raw edges fray. This is how my denim shorts look like before I start adding some lace details to them.
Step 3 : Now cut bits of lace fabric and stitch them onto the shorts. You can play with your imagination and creativity here and think of a variety of ways to create patterns out of the lace. I hand-stitched the lace as it’s a bit difficult to patch it to a ready garment, but if you are good in machine stitching, do try using the skill to your advantage. Cut any extra laces and threads if needed.
I stitched patches of lace to the back pockets and the front panel, but like I mentioned before, you can use them which ever way you like!

Ek Taara is an indie fashion brand from India started by my dear friend and talented designer, Priyanka Chugh. When Priyanka got in touch with me to collaborate with Ek Taara and style a few pieces of her collection in my blog, I was totally thrilled about it! First of all, her designs are cute and creative and second, she puts her heart and soul into designing each and every piece of her collection. She aims at mixing “Indian crafts and identities into making something ‘Cool’ and pretty much wearable for any occasion” and her designs for sure reflects this philosophy!
I picked a few items from her collection that fitted so well with my personal sense of style and here is the first one of the lot. It’s a short silk summer dress that is so flowy and soft that I hardly felt like I was wearing anything!! 😉 Must say, quite ideal for a hot summer. It’s a dress that can effortlessly transition from a day dress to an evening wear and that’s what I loved the most about it. Not to mention the bright print and the detailing that gave a beautiful summer feel to the off-white base of the dress. I used bohemian styling to bring out the best elements of this silk dress and I hope you enjoyed it!

Let me take a break from my outfit posts for a while and do some shopping talk for a change!
I think I have mentioned like a hundred times till now that I love shopping (which fashion blogger doesn’t, right?!) and I am more of a online shopping addict! I love going to brick and mortar stores once in a while, but with a full time job, a blog and a house to run, I get very little free time to actually visit the malls and browse through endless number of racks for one basic T-shirt! So to cut it short, online shopping is my thing. However, there are a few items that I find difficulty buying online and eyewear is one such thing. I simply cannot visualise how would I look wearing one of those cute sunglasses that I just loved on the internet. If you go through a similar online shopping issue this post is indeed a must-read. Here I am reviewing Lenskart, one of India’s leading online shopping portal for eye wear. Lenskart.com offers a huge variety of classics to super stylish range of glasses at affordable price point and dollops it up with some super cool features that makes eyewear shopping quite convenient for online shopping junkies like you and me!

1. Free Home Trial
No words to describe this feature. I think it’s one of the best!
4. 3D Virtual Try OnNow isn’t it cool! I am often a bit skeptical buying sunglasses online as most of them do not suit my face type. I only believe in try and buy from a proper store. But all thanks to this cutting edge feature of Lenskart, I can now confidently shop sunglasses online! Yoohoo!
5. Super Affordable
Prices start from Rs 599/- and it can’t get any cheaper than this! For instance, this gorgeous pair is just for Rs599/-, can you believe it!

And I am so glad to let all my readers know that Lenskart ships internationally with the convenience of multiple options of payment. So, all my international readers/followers, if you visit the site and love something, be assured you can buy them too

I have a special soft corner for animal prints in general and leopard prints in particular. (Have also worn animal print here and here recently!!) It is probably an outcome of my obsession with animals. For me, leopard print is also one of the most classic and stylish prints ever designed!
Today’s look is all about matching my outfit to the humid weather that we are experiencing right now. I usually stick to silhouettes that are slightly closer to the body, but today I seriously wanted to relax in an easy-breezy outfit. I am so glad that the over-sized trend is quite ‘in’ this season because on days warm days like this, a loose top and bottom combo is all you need for a laid back casual look. Wearing a over-sized outfit is quite tricky if you are petite like me ( I am little more than 5.3″ to be precise!) but the high heeled booties and the dark colored pants quite balanced out my proportions! I kept my make up and hair quite natural to complement my casual look.
How has been your week so far and how is the weather treating you in your part of the world? Let me know if you are waiting for the weekend as eagerly as I am and of course do share your thoughts on my look of the day!
