Last weekend took us to Shillong (a beautiful and picturesque hill station in the north east India) for a day trip. The agenda was to attend the Cherry Blossom festival.
The idea of capturing the beautiful cherry blossoms through our lenses was quite thrilling for me, both as a blogger and as an individual who has never seen a Cherry tree before!
You know about it all from my Instagram stories, don’t you? You also know that we actually got a bit disappointed not to find that many Cherry trees as we were expecting. Nonetheless, a trip to Shillong is always an enjoyable experience for me and Pankaj, so no complains at all!
However, I did dress up keeping in mind a very flowery pink backdrop and had all the good intentions of doing an outfit photo shoot amidst all the Cherry blossoms. Blogger habits die hard, you see! 😉 My biggest disappointment initially was to look for an alternative location for the shoot. But we came across this really cool graffiti wall and my disappointed was instantly replaced by a sense of great accomplishment! One crazy blogger I am, right?
I am wearing culottes a lot these days. I would like to think of culottes as a very easy piece to style. It can practically be worn with just about anything.
I teamed my denim culottes with this light weight beige trench coat and statement sunglasses to create a chic blogger style.
Added a pair of sneakers for ease of walking of course. Shillong is a hilly place and wearing very high heels is never a good idea.
If I have to give you one style tip, when in doubt buy a pair of culottes that is fitted around the hips with a non-elasticated waist band (with zipper). Such designs can make one look slimmer and taller. If you have a petite frame, you can wear your culottes as stylish ankle pants or customise them by a trimming the hemline a bit.
We explored a new restaurant in Shillong with good food and good decor and drove around a lot, primarily looking for Cherry trees. Overall it was a good break for both of us as we had been too occupied with work lately and life was getting a bit boring.
I am planning to do a post or two on Shillong as we visit this city a lot and know quite a lot about it. Let me know if you would like to read something of that sort on the blog. For now I hope you enjoy this post and the photographs.
