I wasn’t planning to publish another post on ‘Blog tutorial’ category so soon, but the awesome performance of my post on ‘How to start a Fashion Blog?‘ tempted me to do so.
After all, Fashion blogger’s block is for real and I know how annoying it is to completely go blank and out of ideas to write a new post. For instance, if personal style is your niche, how many look posts can you possibly publish in a month?
Soon your blog will start looking too monotonous and you will probably run out of new outfit combinations in your wardrobe!
If you find yourself looking up at the infinity and wondering what should you be blogging about next, I bet this post on Fashion Blogger’s Block is going to be of great help to you.
That’s me up there in the photograph, all lost and thinking about my next blog post! LOL! Well, not really. It’s just a random pose for a photo shoot. But with the tips that I am about to share, you will never have a fashion blogger’s block or writer’s block ever again.
#Read Up for Ideas
A well-read person is a well-informed person.
Create a list of your favorite fashion blogs and read them regularly for new ideas. I do not mean to say you copy the content, but you can definitely get inspired and do something similar.
Most of us fashion bloggers have a good collection of fashion magazines. We read fashion magazine to stay up to date on trends, we dream to get a feature in one of them someday and we even use them in our flat lays.
Did you know that you can even get inspired by those fashion magazines to create a blog post. You can discuss an article from Vogue on your blog or write about your own style picks based on what you read up in Elle.
If you truly read all the magazines that you buy, you should never go through a writer’s block phase ever!
#Look into you Closet
Take a fresh look at your own closet. Do you have a favorite skirt that you have been wearing for ages? Or that classic LBD you can never get tired of? Think of blog post ideas out of your closet :
5 ways to wear a skirt
3 pairs of timeless shoes
3 Must-Have Dresses
Readers love personalized posts on recycling pieces. Like you, they too get tired of seeing an overdose of outfit posts. These kind of posts are informative as well as interesting. Since your wardrobe is unique, your posts are going to be original too!
I have most often seen my Fashion Tips doing a lot better than my outfit posts.
#Take a Weekend Off
I know you love blogging and would love to be clicking photographs and editing posts even during the weekends. But when you are going through a fashion blogger’s block, it’s pays to take a break.
How about taking a weekend vacation? You can come back and write about your trip and what you wore during the trip. See, you already got two posts out of your mini break!
I took a day trip to a bird sanctuary and wrote a lifestyle blog post on it that got quite a few hits!
If you do not know what a tag post is, it’s a chain post on a particular topic where you answer a few questions and then tag your favorite bloggers to do the same on their blogs. You also thank the blogger who tagged you in your tag post. It’s a great way to get back links, share traffic and network with fellow bloggers.
The best part about tag posts other than an exchange of traffic, is to give your readers a glimpse of your personality by answering few simple questions.
You must be wondering how to do a tag post when no one has tagged you yet. You can actually start one yourself and tag some of your blogger friends or you can just pick one tag post that you might have read and start a thread on it.
#Create a Wishlist
If you are absolutely out of any blog post ideas you can always create a wishlist and share it with your readers. Do a Summer Wishlist, a fall wishlist or a holiday wishlist. We all have a wishlist in life so it’s impossible to go out of ideas while creating one.
Here is my Christmas Wishlist that I shared 2 years back. Although most of the items from the wish list are still wishes, I did get good traffic from that post!
#Share Information on Technology
Let’s face it, we fashion bloggers are creative but not as technically sound as we would love to be. May be we are not up to date on the latest developments on new apps and software. So if you think you have an edge in this area, create posts around it by all means.
Did you recently come across a super cool app or a photo editing software? Share it with your readers and they will be hooked to your blog!
#Compilation of your Favorite Bloggers
Refer to my first point about reading up on your favorite bloggers. I am sure you already have a list of your favorite bloggers that you love and follow. Why not write a post on them with links to their blogs (it will help you build good outbound links for SEO) and share it with your readers. Sharing is always caring. Do inform the bloggers about your post. Most of them would take it as a compliment and would love to share it with their followers as well. Great way to drive traffic!
It was really sweet of blogger Samantha to feature me on one of her blog posts and I tried to get her as much traffic as I could by sharing the post on all my social media channels! I myself did a post on my favorite Instagram accounts very recently in my Instagram Inspiration post.
After all, fashion blogging is a small and fairly new community and instead of competing with each other, mutual help can go a great way in making us stronger!
#Explore new areas
Last but not the least, explore as much as you can. Venture into new areas within your niche. If you have always written about fashion, think of a beauty or a lifestyle post. Share your favorite make-up tutorial.
Not only will you overcome Fashion Blogger’s Block and get new ideas to write about, you might just enjoy doing it and put up a new category on your blog too.
I hope this list can help you get rid of writer’s block or more specifically, Fashion Blogger’s Block. If you enjoyed the post don’t forget to share it with others as well. Remember, sharing is caring 😉
