Printed Maxi Dress+Faux Leather Biker Jacket

by

The best way to start dressing up for fall is by pulling out some of your favorite summer pieces and layering them in style.

The weather change need not necessarily mean a complete change of closet, unless you want it that way. It is kind of easy for me to say so because I am from India and we don’t have very harsh winters except for a few parts of the country. So it is not very difficult to dress up for winter. All I need to do is smart layering!

This printed maxi dress is one of my favorite summer pieces and incidentally it is the only maxi dress I own. So I would surely love to wear it more often irrespective of the season. However, I do have to wait until fall to wear this synthetic leather biker jacket, which is my favorite too. I prefer the term faux leather more than synthetic leather and that’s one of the essential materials in my wardrobe for the colder months. I have quite a few synthetic leather leggings, skirts and jackets and I love that stylish edgy look they help create.

The maxi dress I am wearing is feminine and the biker jacket adds that much needed edge to it. I always love that blend of feminine and edge, it’s always so much more comfortable. I would also love to buy myself a couple more of these synthetic leather biker jackets in different colours as they are one of the most versatile fashion items one can own.

If you don’t own any biker jacket yet, I have linked some under $50 pieces at the end of the post that you might like.

I shared an image of this outfit on my Instagram and I received a lot of compliments from most of you on my hair. That’s is seriously amazing and I am proud of myself to make my bad hair day look like a good one! 🙂 I haven’t had a hair cut in months and I hate the way my hair looks at the moment. I am so disappointed by every hair stylist I have visited in this city that I have finally decided to cut my own hair myself!

Now that’s another story altogether and I will talk more about it later. I might even do a video of my hair cutting experiences! Wait for it guys! 🙂

I love the idea of smart layering! That’s what I do here in Brisbane (Australia) as it never really gets cold during Fall and Winter, so a jacket and leggings are enough. I haven’t owned a leather jacket for so long, and I’m not sure why. It goes really well with your dress.

Love this look! I have a hard time wearing maxi dresses in the summertime so wearing it under a jacket in the fall is a *great* idea! Love that you mixed navy (dress) and black (jacket) – I think that’s such a chic color combination and one so many people steer clear of. Your hair looks great! I totally get not being able to find someone who cuts (or colors!) the way you really want, it’s so hard. I’d taken to mostly cutting my own hair, too. Now I can’t wait to just have HAIR, so…. ha ha. What a beautiful look! It’s always nice when we can use older pieces in our closet to create looks that feel like new. I don’t have a biker jacket, although I do have a maxi dress and a jean jacket. ps: I know you’re not super happy with your hair, but I think it looks fantastic. x

I wear my summer pieces all year round so my friends think I’m insane! I love how easy it is to layer a cute maxi dress with a jacket or shawl and instantly upgrade it for winter. I definitely own more summer dresses than actual pants ha. Your leather jacket is gorgeous!

I have always made my outfits stretch by adding jackets or leggings to a dress. So budget friendly and versatile.

I have got a shorter summer dress in a very similar pattern that I love. Unfortunately I have had to give it up in my most recent wardrobe clear out as it is just too big. This post has made me regret it a little bit though. I am a big fan of the contrast of the biker jacket with a feminine dress. One of my favourite long-lasting pieces is my leather jacket. I managed to buy it in the ASOS sale for a real bargain and I am enjoying how well the leather is aging.
