I don’t know from which part of the world you are reading this post and what the weather is like in your city. But in where I live, the weather is swinging between spring and summer!
So, here comes a Summer Corduroy look celebrating the onset of what feels like summer in my city.
Today I am wearing these mustard cord culottes in a vibrant summer style. Culottes are my one of my favorite type of garments and I wear them quite often. A lot of my friends think that they are only for tall girls. However, I am just 5′ 4″ tall and I don’t think I look short in them in any ways. It is all about styling. Culottes are very easy to style and can be worn all year round. Check out some colorful, semi-formal and winter culottes styles that I have worn in the past. In fact, I do have a lot more ways that I have styled culottes on the blog, but I don’t want to offend the search engines by adding too many links! 🙂
Another myth that I have come across very often, is about wearing corduroy in summer. I agree, corduroy looks more like a winter fabric. And until few years back, it was worn only in winter.
Technology has changed now and there is a great variety of corduroy fabrics these days and they come in different weights, much like denim.
So there are many variants of summer corduroy available, in case you fancy wearing them.
I can say that because, as a designer, I have extensively worked with corduroy fabric. As Fashion designers we work ahead of time. We start designing collections, both fabric and garment, at least 2-3 years in advance. Therefore I had foreseen corduroy becoming a big fashion trend at least 5 years back! I already have quite a few cord pieces that I kept for myself from my design collections. You will be interested in knowing that most of them are summer corduroy pieces in pastel colors and lighter weights.
Let’s come back to my summer corduroy look of the day. These cord culottes were a gift from Pankaj on my birthday 2 years back. I am wearing them for the first time today. I realized they existed in my life only a while back, when I was sorting out my wardrobe. I hope you remember my ‘Buy less, Wear more’ motto of the year. You will see me wearing this pair a lot more in the upcoming months. Rest of the items are all old and on repeat. Let me know on Instagram if you remember me wearing any of them before.
I hope you enjoyed the mustard summer cord look of the day
I will see you soon with a new post! 🙂
