I was never a shy person. In fact, I was always pretty sure of myself, specially when it comes to fashion. But there were still a few colours or silhouettes that I refrained from trying in the past. I still do, but I must admit that starting a fashion blog has definitely changed a lot in me. I have time and again mentioned about it on my blog posts. But in case you are new too my blog or you missed those posts by any chance, grey was not my colour until few years back.
Today, when I took out this grey sweater for the photo shoot and was pondering over colours that go with grey, I just realised how warm a feeling it is to be able to experiment with things that I love.
I have had this sweater for a while now I bought it when the over-sized fashion was just picking up. In order to make it look extra large, I actually bought two sizes bigger than me. Guess it wasn’t a very brilliant idea. I still wish the sweater wasn’t so roomy as I ain’t very tall. So, I got this corset belt to taper down the waist a bit.
I think it is an idea that you can try as well. If you are too bored of wearing over sized clothes, wear an extra wide belt over them.
Now, I couldn’t decide on other colours that go with grey and settled for the safest black and grey combination. Black works all the time and with everything, right? However, I do remember wearing this sweater with a pair of white jeans creating a white and grey outfit too. What else can I wear a grey sweater with, right?
Now, whenever I wear neutral colours, I can’t help adding a pop of something bright to it. Well not always, but most of the time. So, red lip and nail colours added the much needed pop of brightness to my grey and black look. This is not a very experimental colour combination as such, but definitely an experimental styling with the corset belt. But I would really love to wear colour grey with something that is not the tried and tested black, white and/or grey.
Do you have any suggestions on some experimental colours that go with grey?

December 21, 2017I really like your idea to pair a wide belt with an oversized sweater such as you show in your photos here. Personally I like the classic look of a light soft grey against a black & white herringbone fabric.

December 21, 2017Grey goes very well with bordeaux red, or velvet green! – Totally agree with something to pop to go with it, just grey will make is a bit boring. Thank you for sharing!

December 23, 2017One of the things I love about your blog is that you take things (like an oversized sweater) and teach us how to make them work. If something it too big, it finds its way to the back of my closet, but with your tips, it becomes new again. ps: I love the corset belt, such a great and out-of-the-norm look! x

December 25, 2017The gray and black sweater do look great on you. And I can see what you mean by the added pop by adding a bright color to go against the neutral black and gray. Great outift.
