Pastel shades can be worn all year round but they feel a lot more visually soothing in summer, specially the harsh Indian summer. Pastel colors are almost a summer fashion must-have. You must have seen me wearing brighter or darker colors more often. Naturally, I am not a great fan of the pastels. But when the mercury rises way above my comfort level, I take resort to pastel colored outfits. I have always had a love-hate relation with pastels. I have a feeling these shades do not suit my skin tone and I also know I am wrong because pastel and neutrals suit all skin colors. But no matter what, I keep getting back to wearing some pastels every now and then. The reason : they are pretty, feminine, elegant and an integral part of summer fashion, that makes them difficult to completely ignore!

Now that I have officially accepted that pastels are cool, let me give you some tips to rock them this summer :

1. Do the pastel-on-pastel or mix your pastels with lighter shades for summer. The same tip applies to footwear and accessories as well.

2.Keep your make up simple. I like nude lips and eyeliner with my pastels.

3.Pastels are the best in a feminine look : lace dress, floral headband, flawless skin. But if you like to add some edge to you pastel look take cue from my look  of the day. I am sporting a pair of distressed mint jeans and a top with stud details today! A pastel biker jacket and white sneakers look great too.

4. Stains stand prominent in pastels and any light colored clothes. Always wear your pastels clean or don’t wear them at all! That goes for all your clothing items but give particular attention to your pastel pieces.

5.For more ways of wearing pastel shades in summer, check out my lookbook where I have worn this trench coat with a completely different styling!

Last but not the least wear a smile and wear your confidence 🙂

Thanks a lot for reading. If you like this post and my style of the day, don’t forget to share this article with your fashion lover friends in social media. I will catch you soon with another post! 🙂

Isn’t it interesting how as temperatures soar, the colours we wear tend to fade in saturation? What a paradoxical contrast 🙂 being from Sarawak myself, I can quite understand (and emphatise) with you over the sweltering weather you must be experiencing now!! No matter though, you look calm, collected and cool in this outfit, Sarmistha 🙂
